An 8am start, a 4 hour journey... We left early to give us plenty of time to have a decent day out in a nice suberb of Stoke, home to Port Vale FC...

That would of course rely on it being a nice suberb........

7 pubs, of which 4 were boarded up, 1 was Home Fans only, and the other 2 provided nothing more than sandwiches for nourishment... At least we've got a couple of bars that serve "food"near our stadium!

Queue 2 and a half hours of drinking, singing, and general England and Cardiff bashing in the local "away" pub... There wasn't exactly a lot else to do!

Vale Park

The swans warm up

Today was a family game with no Willy's on the pitch...........

Andy Oakes assumes the number 1 position for today's game...

The hound of Basker"VALE".......

For a big game the attendance was dire from the home fans...

Katy poses with the the hound...

The teams come out for the first half...

Port Vale today played in their 3rd strip - a sky blue number... This was because someone left our 3rd choice strip back at home, and we only had this black one which clashed with theirs! You would have thought that someone might have noticed in advance the similarity in kits, and thus packed spares.................... Ah well...

Andy Oakes...

Swans defend an attacking throw from Port Vale

Oakes is clattered to the floor from the resulting mele...

And rather worryingly takes quite a few minutes to get back to his feet...

What's that running down the wing? It's Leon Britton, it's Leon Britton...

Half time, 0-0...

In truth could have gone either way, but at least we haven't conceded yet....
