Foo Fighters
Wembley Stadium
06/06/08
A trip to London, to stare at Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters.. A legendary gig, enhanced by the fact that I have now stood on the hallowed Wembley turf! Here's a selection of pictures from the gig..

The gig was announced on Radio1 in November with tickets selling out in minutes

The unique stage was positioned off centre, but with the abilty to have the standing crowd surrounding it nearly 360degrees, with a full 360 degree seated crowd. The stage rotated as well to allow the band to face different parts of the crowd during the gig.
It also reminded me a little of the machines from Star Wars... A stripped down one anyway...

The lighting rig reflected the revolving element of the stage design.. The long thick outer circle are actually tv screens..

I love this camera - kept me captivated inbetween bands with it's swooping movements

With Radio1 supporting this gig, "Zipper" aka Zane Lowe was the resident DJ inbetween bands

The first band on were "Against Me".. Very Iron Maiden-esque..

Supergrass were next..

As the support bands finish, the crowd floods in ready for the main event

The "screens" are lowered down to prepare the stage for the arrival of the foos..

The screens fully lowered, smoke is pumped out to create atmosphere..

Before the foos even get to the stage the crowd surfing has begun..

The lights go on, the screens light up.. This can only mean one thing..

The Foo Fighters hit the stage! Dave Grohl goes on a lap of the stage at full pelt - a little too fast for my camera to catch him!

But he comes back to greet our side of the stage - evidentaly slightly chuffed at the gig!

Dave Grohl walks out into the crowd on his runway that extends most of the length of the stadium..

Dave Grohl talks to the crowd - thanks everyone for coming and making this such a brilliant gig

A solitary spotlight picks out Dave Grohl at the end of his runway for a chilling rendition of Everlong..

And the crowd react accordingly

Gig over, all fireworks exploded, the crowd filter out into the warm London evening

It really is an awesome stadium.. Which I have now stood on the turf of..
Thanks to Radio1 for supporting this event, and also the makers of cars, fuel, and the parents of the friends who came with me for giving me the abilty to see the mighty Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium - maybe their last UK gig?.................
